Educational Qualification

For each trade, candidates must possess SSC/10th Standard or equivalent with Science subjects and a minimum of 55% marks, along with any one of the following: an ITI certificate or national/state trade certificate in the relevant trade from a recognized institution; or 2 years' full-time experience as an apprentice trainee in the relevant trade; or 3 years of work experience in the relevant trade in a Ministry, Department, Organization, PSU, or Autonomous Body under the Government of India/State/UT.

CSIR-CIMFR Technician Selection Process 2026

The selection process consists of the following stages:

  1. Screening by a duly constituted Screening Committee to shortlist candidates for the Trade Test.
  2. Trade Test — candidates who qualify are invited for the Written Examination.
  3. Competitive Written Examination — consisting of three papers. Paper-II and Paper-III are evaluated only for those who secure the minimum threshold marks in Paper-I. The final merit list is based solely on marks in Paper-II and Paper-III.

The Written Examination is OMR-based or Computer-Based Objective Type (MCQ), conducted in English and Hindi (except English language questions), at SSC + ITI/12th standard level.

Selected Technician-1 candidates will be placed in Level-2 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix (Rs. 19,900–63,200). The total monthly emoluments, including House Rent Allowance as admissible in Dhanbad, are approximately Rs. 37,000/-. Additionally, employees are entitled to Dearness Allowance, Transport Allowance, Medical Expense Reimbursement, Leave Travel Concession, Conveyance Advance, House Building Advance, and National Pension System benefits as per CSIR rules.
